Brief Career Details

Ian Ball was previously an Advocacy Trainer with the Law Society (Solicitors’ Higher Courts criminal and civil rights of audience course 1994-1998).  He has been an external examiner for the College of Law since 2001.

He was employed as a Crown Prosecutor by CPS Birmingham and Coventry 1998-1999, prior to joining Chambers.

 

Crime

He is experienced in all areas, acting both for prosecution (Grade III) and defence.

Ian graduated at the end of 2009 with a distinction in his Master of Laws degree LL.M Environmental Law at the De Montfort University, Leicester, winning the Pinfold Prize for Environmental Law.  His dissertation was on “Presumed Guilty? Strict Liability, Causation and the reverse burden of proof in Health and Safety cases”.
