Brief Career Details
Before coming to the Bar, Chanvir spent a year working as a tax advisor at Deloittes. Having joined Chambers as a tenant in 2007 following the successful completion of pupillage, Chanvir now practises in several areas of law.
Family Law
Chanvir accepts instructions in a broad range of areas, such as public law childcare, private law childcare and Family Law Act injunction proceedings. Always seeking to promote a common-sense approach to what is often a volatile and emotion-laden arena, he believes the development of trust between client and counsel is often a sound basis for success.
Criminal Law
Receiving instructions in general Crown Court defence work, Chanvir also regularly represents the Probation Service on breach matters. He has also developed a successful Magistrates' court defence practice.
Employment
Since becoming a tenant in 2007, Chanvir has enjoyed undertaking work in the Employment Tribunal and has been instructed across a range of areas.
Commensurate with his experience, Chanvir appears at contested and ancillary hearings in matters of unfair and wrongful dismissal, redundancy and sex and race discrimination. He represents both Claimants and Respondents and has acted on behalf of a range of clients from individual employees to national retail chains.
In particular, Chanvir enjoys the opportunity for direct contact with clients and brings with him a common sense and realistic approach to litigation.
